Covid reached Canada in January 2020. It has affected the lives of many people all around the globe and scuttled many events and social gatherings. People were reduced to celebrating in small groups with limitations.
We got a call from a city hall outside of Toronto saying that their big community event tomorrow was happening, but the cabaret show would not be able to make it!
It turned out that one of the lead performers got COVID and infected the rest of the cast. They had to cancel at the last minute because they didn’t want to risk infecting anyone else.
This last-minute decision left the organizers stuck.
It’s always disappointing when a show is canceled at the last minute, not only for the event organizers but also for the audience expecting the show. They also have waited a long time to enjoy themselves and have fun.
The last-minute cancellation left organizers in an unpleasant situation because now there was no telling if any more events would happen before it started raining again! Things happen, and sometimes it’s out of our control.
The organizers needed to act fast! The last thing they wanted now was to cancel yet another community event, especially in the final 24 hours when it’s pretty complicated to change any event detail.

They asked if we could produce a whole cabaret show with seven different acts for a diverse audience. We said yes. We always do.
Twenty-four hours later, the show went smoothly. No one knew that another company had put on the cabaret show. We stepped in and saved the day! The audience loved it, and we received a standing ovation.
Our whole cabaret show had a je ne sais quoi that made the audience want more since we are all about engaging the audience with our different talents and making them happy.
